Take advantage of the local delicacies and late opening times to avoid the heat while on holiday in Greece, one travel commentator has advised.
Writing for About.com, deTraci Regula recommended people prepare their day trips around the midday sun and take advantage of late opening times when exploring the country.
Avoiding the hottest part of the day at noon, instead visiting archaeological sites early evening, can provide a more enjoyable experience for tourists, she explained.
Ms Regula also suggested sampling the local cuisine to keep cool, recommending cold appetisers such as tzatziki for the cooling yoghurt and olives to keep up salt levels, along with regular consumption of cold drinks.
Lastly, she said sitting in shaded open spaces near water or on a hillside are good ways to get some relief from the heat, but reminded people to wear hats and sun cream for protection and take water supplies when out for the day.
Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angeline Jolie were recently spotted enjoying the Greek sun on holiday in Santorini and according to local newspapers are considering buying a property on the island, the Greek Reporter states.
