People considering their upcoming travel options might like to note that Greek island summer holidays could be more affordable than other vacations, as the country's tourism minister has confirmed price drops of over 20 per cent.
Speaking to Deutsche Welle, Georgios Nikitiadis said that, aside from the nation being more competitive now than ever for cheap holidays, there are several other reasons for paying it a visit.
These, he continued, include the fact that it is "one of the most beautiful countries in the world" that boasts "nice beaches [and] nice sand", while it offers jet-setters the chance to experience a unique civilisation.
Mr Nikitiadis went on to affirm that the destination is both safe and secure and people should not be worried about booking flights to Greece.
His comments mirror those recently made by Cheapflights.co.uk's Nadine Hallak, who noted that costs in the country could fall further, as this is what happened when Iceland went bankrupt in 2008.
