Venturing into the hills of Cyprus provides a day out to remember, according to one travel commentator.
Writing for Suite 101, Doreen Taylor describes the views and tranquil atmosphere in the Kyrenian mountains as a nice alternative to the commercial towns below.
She recommends tourists take a drive up through the pine forests to experience the "breathtaking" views of the countryside and surrounding ocean.
Recounting the scenes, Ms Taylor said: "The world that the traveller sojourns through in these mountains, high above the rest of a sweltering, sunburnt humanity, is a bubble of peace and tranquillity."
When journeying through on route to the village of Esentepe she encourages people to pull over and explore the deserted Antiphonitis Church, a traditional Byzantine monastery that was built in the 7th century.
Cyprus was recently announced as the best place to visit for a budget break this summer, according to a survey by Skyscanner.
