People who are planning a Greek island holiday in Andros may want to make sure a stop-over in Menites in on the agenda.
Known for being something of a cool sanctuary in hot weather, this lush town could be an oasis against the heat of the holiday periods.
Trees, meadows, plants and marble spring fountains adorned with lion head motifs could make this an enchanting place to escape.
At about six kilometres from the capital of Chora on Petalo Mountain, this destination could be good for a day trip.
Those who enjoy trekking could find this village to be a good starting or ending point after hikes to the Panachrantou Monastery, Pitrofos-Paleopoli and Lamyra-Hora.
For a sweet reward, visitors may want to try Amygdalota - an almond-based biscuit - which is a speciality of the region.
This could be tasted at the Feasts for Dionysos held in Menites - a party which Greek island specialists Greeka recommended as a festive occasion.
