More people are interested in vacationing in Greece, according to one company, which has reported a 32 per cent rise in searches for flights to the country.
Kefalonia has seen the largest increase in interest at 42 per cent, while Zante, Corfu and Crete were also identified to be significantly more popular by flight comparison site Cheapflights.co.uk.
"Greece is … slashing flight prices. This combined with the strengthened pound … means that not only can you find great deals … but you can also spend more once you get there," Nadine Hallak, travel expert for the organisation, said.
The website looked at searches conducted by holidaymakers from the beginning of May in comparison with the start of June and found that interest in the Greek islands has risen considerably.
Tourist visits to Cyprus were higher in May 2010, than for the same period the previous year, according to recent figures released by the island's Statistical Service.
