Greece is a country that retains its appeal no matter how many times people holiday there, according to one travel commentator.
Writing for the Bismark Tribune, humanities scholar Clay Jenkinson explained how the Greek islands draw him back time and again.
He described how the unpretentious culture, high-quality cuisine and history make the destination a place of which "you can never get enough".
The academic said: "The island of Santorini is to my mind the single most beautiful place on earth."
And he recounted the "astonishing beauty of the sea" and fantastic views of the traditional blue and white buildings on the island.
Mr Jenkinson told of the distinctive national spinach pie, souvlaki and spanikopita, served with Greek salad, which he claimed is the best in the world.
Writing for Blog Critics, Jon Sobel recently described how ancient relief carvings could be viewed at the Ancient Thira ruins on the isle.
